To Be A Person Of Color

New sketchbook journal comic about living in a place where hate crimes against people of color and vulnerable groups are almost "normal" and unremarkable.

There was a shooting spree yesterday, targeting Asian women in Atlanta. I went to bed last night and woke this morning thinking about how unsafe it feels to be a person of color in the U.S. now -- and essentially, throughout history.

At the same time, I am proud to be Asian-American and grateful to the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement and Black Lives Matter for creating the blueprint for finding strength in each other and the courage to not accept hate as our "normal."

Thanks for reading

We are all in this together. I hope for a new day where we can all walk without fear. Meanwhile, there is much work for us all to do. Sending love and support.

Me, too, love and support to you, your family, and everyone. With all the publicity, I can't help but feel the tide is turning and racists will become aware of themselves and their well-learned bigotry. As the song says, "You've Got to be Carefully Taught". I feared something of the sort a year ago and everyone around me told me I was crazy. Sadly, I'm not nearly as crazy as the people out there spreading the hate. Just once I'd like to be totally wrong in my hunches.
