Connie, Connie, Connie. You have a circle of friends. Hold on to them. You'll find that loyal friends last longer and mean more in the long run then a couple of dates. The system is also stacked against widows and widowers. The system is also stacked against seniors looking for simple companionship.

It is sort of the system"! The Guardian just ran an article on why people don't get "asked out" often - and the conclusion? A big part is because being the ASKER is so scary! Some people DO master the fear of asking others out, but for most others it is something they have a really hard time feeling confident enough to not put off or hope something magical and movie-like intervenes instead... the article writer, who was female - encouraged people to work on that fear in themselves rather then wonder why dates don't materialize from others.

Just a thought since the article just ran and was on my mind...
